The Independent National Electoral Commission, has again extended the
deadline for collection of Permanent Voter Cards by registered voters
to March 8.
The extension, which follows the postponement of the 2015 general
elections to March 28 and April 11, was made known in a statement by the
Secretary to the Commission, Augusta Ogakwu.
Ms. Ogakwu said “The Commission hopes that this extension will
finally avail every registered person yet to collect his/her PVC the
opportunity to do so in readiness for the general elections.”
More than 68 million Nigerians registered for the elections but about 45 million valid voters have collected their cards.
As of last Monday, 45,098,876 cards, representing 66.7 per cent collection rate, had been distributed by INEC.
INEC said it had taken delivery of all the cards and made them
available for collection in the various states of the nation. It urged
those that are yet to collect their cards to do so.
