Let’s all drink to good health.
Recent research shows that beer can actually be good for you, according to Beverage Daily. Namely, it can help prevent dementia and Parkinson’s.
Xanthohumol—a chemical found exclusively in hops—has been identified as possibly having preventative qualities when it comes to neurodegenerative disorders.
How so? Researchers believe the chemical may protect your brain cells from oxidative stress, which is believed to be a cause of Alzheimer’s.
Xanthohumol has also shown signs of aiding in cardiovascular health, cancer prevention and anti-inflammation. It even has antiviral properties.
It’s weird to think that my semi-regular blackouts may be helping me keep a sharp mind in my old age, if I make it to old age.
