APGA Chief’s Counsel To Buhari

A CHIEFTAIN of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Okoli Akirika, has urged the President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, to implement the National Conference report as a way of addressing serious national issues. 

Akirika, who addressed newsmen in Awka, Akirirka also told Buhari to follow due process in the probe of the missing $20 billion in the NNPC, which he had promised to further investigate on assumption of office.

“Let Buhari have a recourse to the confab whose report has been submitted and has been accepted to be a working document.

“It will help us (Nigerians) to heal many national wounds, to take Nigeria to the next level.”

“Let the issue of federal character be taken into consideration.

“Those are some of the things that have been holding this country back.

“So, Buhari should have a re-think to the resolutions of the National Confab.”

Okoli said that Buhari’s decision to probe alleged missing $20 billion in the NNPC should not cause alarm, saying there was nothing wrong in trying to correct wrong deeds by a past government and should not be allowed to heat the polity.

“If actually money was missing, for goodness sake, it should be traced.

“But, let it be done procedurally, let it be done in accordance with the law, let it be done within the ambit of due process.”

He charged the incoming government to tackle head-long the age-long epileptic power supply in the country as well as overhaul the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), to conduct free, fair and acceptable election in future.

“So, what I am saying is that Buhari should target the welfare of the common man, he should target taking Nigeria to the next level no matter the political party that is coming in.

“Let the federal highways be properly reconstructed, let the local government system be made functional,” he said.
