Flying Eagles' Prince Izu Omegu was hospitalized yesterday colliding
with a Kano Pillars attacker in the second game of the ongoing Glo Super
4 invitational tournament at the Abuja National Stadium.
Medical personnel deployed to the venue of the event, yesterday
battled to save the life of the Flying Eagles defence strong man,
following the incident in the 78minute of their match. It took the
medics over 10 minutes to revive the player on the pitch before he was
rushed to the hospital in an ambulance.
The incident brought the stadium to a standstill as soccer fans who
thronged the stadium for the three matches of the day watched helplessly
as the medical team battled to bring the player back to life.
Flying Eagles Coach Manu Garba who was visibly shocked by the
incident said after the match that he was happy that the player started
breathing as the medical team battle on to revive him on the pitch.
"I am happy he started breathing from the ground as the medical team
tried to revive him that is what I can say for now till I get the final
report from our team doctor," Manu said.
In the match the flying Eagles recorded a 2-1 victory against Nigeria
League defending champions Kano Pillars FC to maintain their winning
streak in the competition.
